भीष्मस्य मण्डलव्यूहः — Bhīṣma’s Maṇḍala Battle-Formation and the Opening Engagements
सो<पराह्ने महाराज संग्रामस्तुमुलो5भवत् । एकस्य च बहूनां च समेतानां रणाजिरे,महाराज! अपराह्नकालमें उस समरांगणमें एकत्र हुए बहुत-से वीरोंके साथ एक वीरका भयंकर युद्ध प्रारम्भ हुआ
so ’parāhṇe mahārāja saṅgrāmas tumulo ’bhavat | ekasya ca bahūnāṃ ca sametānāṃ raṇājire ||
ข้าแต่พระราชา ครั้นยามบ่ายคล้อย การศึกก็ทวีความดุเดือดยิ่งนัก ณ ทุ่งรบ การประจัญบานอันน่าสะพรึงก็เริ่มขึ้น—วีรบุรุษเพียงผู้เดียวเข้าต่อสู้กับเหล่าวีรชนจำนวนมากที่มาชุมนุมพร้อมกัน
