दुर्योधनप्रिये युक्त: पाण्डवान् परिशोचयन् । जीवितं दुस्त्यजं त्यक्त्वा भयं च सुमहाहवे
sañjaya uvāca | duryodhana-priye yuktaḥ pāṇḍavān pariśocayan | jīvitaṃ dustyajaṃ tyaktvā bhayaṃ ca sumahāhave | jighāṃsantaṃ yudhāṃ śreṣṭhaṃ tadā āsīt tumulaṃ mahat ||
สัญชัยกล่าวว่า “ภีษมะผู้ทุ่มตนในกิจอันเป็นที่รักของทุรโยธน์ ทำให้ฝ่ายปาณฑพเศร้าโศก ในศึกใหญ่ยิ่งนั้น เขาละทั้งความยึดติดในชีวิตอันยากจะสละและความหวาดกลัว แล้วภีษมะผู้เป็นยอดนักรบก็พุ่งเข้าหาด้วยหมายสังหารศเวตะ ครั้นนั้นศึกใหญ่อลหม่านก็กำเริบขึ้น”
