अहिंसा: सत्यमक्रोधस्त्याग:: शान्तिरपैशुनम्र । दयाएँ भूतेष्वलोलुप्त्व॑ मार्दव॑* हवीरचापलम्:
arjuna uvāca | ahiṃsā satyam akrodhas tyāgaḥ śāntir apaiśunam | dayā bhūteṣv aloluptvaṃ mārdavaṃ hrīr acāpalam ||
อรชุนกล่าวว่า—อหิงสา ความสัตย์ ความไม่โกรธ การสละ ความสงบภายใน การไม่กล่าวร้ายผู้อื่น ความกรุณาต่อสรรพชีวิต ความไม่โลภคือแม้สัมผัสอารมณ์ทางอินทรีย์ก็ไม่ติดข้อง ความอ่อนโยน ความละอายต่อการประพฤติที่ขัดต่อธรรมและคัมภีร์ และความมั่นคงไม่วอกแวกไร้สาระ—เหล่านี้คือเครื่องหมายแห่งวินัยทางศีลธรรม
