उत्पातवर्णनम् (Utpāta-varṇanam) — Catalogue of Portents
स्त्रिय: काश्रित्प्रजायन्ते चतस्र: पजच कन्यका: । जातमात्राश्च नृत्यन्ति गायन्ति च हसन्ति च,कुछ स्त्रियाँ एक ही साथ चार-चार या पाँच-पाँच कन्याएँ पैदा करती हैं। वे कन्याएँ पैदा होते ही नाचती, गाती तथा हँसती हैं
striyaḥ kāścid prajāyante catasraḥ pañca kanyakāḥ | jātamātrāś ca nṛtyanti gāyanti ca hasanti ca ||
หญิงบางคนคลอดบุตรหญิงคราวเดียวสี่หรือห้าคน; และเด็กหญิงเหล่านั้นพอเกิดมาก็เต้นรำ ขับร้อง และหัวเราะทันที
व्यास उवाच
The verse conveys that when collective dharma declines and a great calamity approaches, reality itself appears unsettled; extraordinary, unnatural events function as moral-cosmic warnings rather than mere curiosities.
Vyāsa is listing alarming portents seen before the great conflict: among them, women bearing multiple daughters at once, and the newborn girls immediately dancing, singing, and laughing—an eerie sign of impending upheaval.
