Shloka 3

विधूय सर्वपापानि विहायान्ते कलेवरम्‌ । प्रयान्ति तत्‌ पद विष्णोर्यत्‌ प्राप्प न निवर्तते,राजन! जो सदा वेदोंके पारंगत विद्वान ब्राह्मणोंको इस पर्वकी कथा सुनायेगा और जो मनुष्य इस भूतलपर श्रद्धापूर्वक इस पर्वको सुनेंगे, वे सम्पूर्ण पापोंको नष्ट करके अन्तमें यह शरीर छोड़कर भगवान्‌ विष्णुके उस परमपदको प्राप्त कर लेंगे, जहाँ जाकर जीव इस जगतमें नहीं लौटता है

Vaiśampāyana uvāca: vidhūya sarva-pāpāni vihāyānte kalevaram | prayānti tat pada viṣṇor yat prāpya na nivartate, rājan |

ไวศัมปายนะกล่าวว่า “ข้าแต่พระราชา! ผู้ใดสม่ำเสมอเล่าเรื่องแห่งปัรวะนี้แก่พราหมณ์ผู้ทรงปัญญาและเชี่ยวชาญพระเวท และผู้ใดบนพื้นพิภพนี้สดับปัรวะนี้ด้วยศรัทธา ผู้นั้นย่อมสลัดบาปทั้งปวง ครั้นถึงกาลสุดท้ายละสังขาร แล้วมุ่งไปสู่ปรมสถานแห่งพระวิษณุ—เมื่อไปถึงแล้ว วิญญาณย่อมไม่หวนกลับสู่โลกนี้อีก”

Faithful hearing or recitation of this Parva is presented as a purifying act: it destroys sin and culminates in attaining Viṣṇu’s supreme abode, described as a state from which there is no return to worldly existence.
