निपातयत गृह्नीत युध्यध्वमवकृन्तत । इत्यासीत् तुमुलः शब्दो राजन् भीष्मरथं प्रति,राजन्! उस समय भीष्मके रथके समीप “मार गिराओ, पकड़ लो, युद्ध करो, टुकड़े- टुकड़े कर डालो” इत्यादि भयंकर शब्द गूँज रहे थे
nipātayata gṛhṇīta yudhyadhvam avakṛntata | ity āsīt tumulaḥ śabdo rājan bhīṣma-rathaṃ prati ||
ข้าแต่พระราชา! ขณะนั้นใกล้ราชรถของภีษมะมีเสียงอึกทึกน่าสะพรึงดังขึ้นว่า “โค่นมันลง! จับไว้! เข้าต่อสู้! สับให้เป็นชิ้น ๆ!”
