शिक्षाबलेन निहतं पित्रा तव विशाम्पते । भरतश्रेष्ठ] उस दसवें दिनके आनेपर एकमात्र भीष्मने युद्धमें मत्स्य और पांचालदेशकी सेनाओंके अगणित हाथी
sañjaya uvāca | śikṣābalena nihataṃ pitrā tava viśāmpate |
สัญชัยกล่าวว่า—ข้าแต่พระผู้เป็นใหญ่แห่งประชา! ทั้งหมดนั้นถูกปราบลงโดยบิดาของพระองค์ด้วยพลังแห่งการฝึกอาวุธและวินัยแห่งยุทธ์เพียงล้วน ๆ ครั้นถึงวันที่สิบ ภีษมะเพียงผู้เดียวในสนามรบได้สังหารช้างและม้านับไม่ถ้วนของกองทัพมัตสยะและปัญจาล และยังประหารมหารถีเจ็ดนายให้สิ้นชีพ ต่อจากนั้น เมื่อสังหารนักรบรถศึกห้าพันแล้ว ภีษมะผู้ประหนึ่งบิดาของพระองค์ก็ได้กวาดล้างในมหาสงครามนั้น ด้วยกำลังแห่งการฝึกศัสตรา สังหารทหารราบหนึ่งหมื่นสี่พัน ช้างหนึ่งพัน และม้าหนึ่งหมื่นสิ้นไป
