Educational Q&A

This line is primarily a structural colophon rather than a doctrinal verse: it highlights that, even amid war, guidance and moral reasoning are transmitted through dialogue (saṃvāda). The ethical emphasis is on counsel, responsibility, and the framing of violent events within reflective discourse.

Sanjaya signals the close/arrival of a chapter in the Bhīṣma Parva, specifying that the chapter’s subject is the conversation between Droṇa and his son Aśvatthāmā, situated within the section dealing with Bhīṣma’s fall.
