भीष्मपर्व — अध्याय ११०: पार्थभीमयोः प्रहारः तथा भीष्माभिमुखं संग्रामविस्तारः

Arjuna and Bhima’s pressure; escalation toward Bhishma

देवव्रतः कृती भीष्म: प्रेक्षितेनापि निर्दहेत्‌ । गम्यतां स वधोपायं प्रष्टं सागरगासुत:,'देवव्रत भीष्म पुण्यात्मा पुरुष हैं। वे दृष्टिपातमात्रसे सबको दग्ध कर सकते हैं; अतः गंगानन्दन भीष्मसे उनके वधका उपाय पूछनेके लिये आप अवश्य उनके पास चलें

sañjaya uvāca | devavrataḥ kṛtī bhīṣmaḥ prekṣitena api nirdahēt | gamyatāṃ sa vadhopāyaṃ praṣṭuṃ sāgaragāsutaḥ |

สัญชัยกล่าวว่า “เทววรตะ—ภีษมะ วีรบุรุษผู้สามารถและเปี่ยมผลงาน—แม้เพียงถูกเขามองก็อาจถูกเผาผลาญได้ ฉะนั้นเราจงไปหาโอรสแห่งคงคา และทูลถามอุบายในการสังหารเขาเถิด”
