वैशग्पायन उवाच
The verse juxtaposes Vedic learning with enthusiasm for battle, highlighting a Mahābhārata tension: knowledge and culture do not automatically prevent violence. It frames war as a chosen arena of honor and victory-seeking, inviting reflection on how dharma and education are tested when power and ambition dominate.
As the armies assemble, the warriors—portrayed as learned in the Vedas and eager for combat—stand facing each other on the battlefield, confident in their strength and expecting victory.
