वैशम्पायन उवाच
This verse functions as a colophon: it emphasizes textual and ethical framing—martial action is recorded not as mere violence but as an episode situated within dharma, royal responsibility, and the restoration of social order after the great war.
The narrator Vaiśampāyana announces the completion of the seventy-seventh chapter describing Arjuna’s conflict with the Saindhavas, and locates it within the Anugītā section of the Aśvamedhika Parva.
