Vajradatta Confronts Dhanaṃjaya at Prāgjyotiṣa
ततः सम्प्रेक्ष्य संक्रुद्धें कालान्तकयमोपमम् । जिष्णु त्रैगर्तका योधा: परीता: पर्यवारयन्,अर्जुनको काल, अन्तक और यमराजके समान कुपित हुआ देख त्रिगर्तदेशीय योद्धाओंने चारों ओरसे आकर उन्हें घेर लिया
tataḥ samprekṣya saṅkruddhaṃ kālāntaka-yamopamam | jiṣṇuṃ traigartakā yodhāḥ parītāḥ paryavārayan ||
ครั้นเห็นจิษณุ (อรชุน) ผู้เดือดดาลดุจกาล อันตกะ และยมราช เหล่านักรบแห่งตรีคฤตะก็กรูกันมาจากทุกทิศ ล้อมเขาไว้
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse highlights the moral tension of battle: righteous duty can require fierce action, yet that same fury is portrayed with death-imagery (Kāla/Yama), reminding the listener that violence, even when duty-bound, carries grave consequences and demands inner discipline.
Vaiśampāyana narrates that the Trigarta warriors, seeing Arjuna blazing with anger and seeming like Death itself, converge from all directions and encircle him, setting the stage for an intense confrontation.
