Educational Q&A

A person is defined by repeated conduct: habitual sinful action makes one a pāpācārī (sinful in behavior), while habitual auspicious action makes one a śubhācārī (virtuous in behavior). Ethical identity is presented as the fruit of one’s chosen practices in the world.

In the Ashvamedhika Parva’s didactic setting, a brāhmaṇa speaker delivers a moral observation about how people are recognized and shaped by their actions—contrasting sinful wandering in the world with living through auspicious deeds.
