अनिशं यत्र पुरुषा गणका लेखकास्तदा | युधिष्ठिरस्य वचनादपृच्छन्त सम तं॑ नृूपम्‌

Transliteration

aniśaṃ yatra puruṣā gaṇakā lekhakās tadā | yudhiṣṭhirasya vacanād apṛcchanta samaṃ taṃ nṛpam ||

Translation

ไวศัมปายนะกล่าวว่า ณ ที่นั้นมีทั้งนายบัญชีและเสมียนคอยพร้อมอยู่เสมอ ตามรับสั่งของยุธิษฐิระ พวกเขาถามพระราชาธฤตราษฏระซ้ำแล้วซ้ำเล่าด้วยความนอบน้อมว่า “ควรประทานสิ่งใดแก่ผู้มาขอเหล่านี้?” เมื่อเตรียมทรัพย์และสิ่งของไว้พร้อมแล้ว สิ่งใดที่ธฤตราษฏระตรัสกำหนด ก็แจกจ่ายให้ทันที—เป็นทานที่เป็นระเบียบภายใต้การกำกับแห่งธรรมะ
