शृणोमि कालो हिंसते धर्मवीर्य सो<थयं प्राप्तो वर्तते धर्मपीडा । पुराधर्मो वर्तते नेह यावत् तावद् गच्छाम: सुरलोकं॑ चिराय,'सुनता हूँ कि काल धर्मकी शक्तिको नष्ट कर देता है। वही काल इस समय प्राप्त हुआ है। तभी तो धर्मको हानि पहुँचायी जा रही है--अस्तेय-धर्मका हनन हो रहा है। अतः इस जगतमें अधर्मका विस्तार न हो इसके पहले ही हम चिरकालके लिये स्वर्गलोकमें चले जायेँ
śṛṇomi kālo hiṃsate dharmavīryaṃ so ’thayaṃ prāpto vartate dharmapīḍā | purā dharmo vartate nehā yāvat tāvad gacchāmaḥ suralokaṃ cirāya ||
ภีษมะกล่าวว่า—‘เรายินมาว่า กาลย่อมทำลายแม้พลังแห่งธรรม กาลนั้นเองบัดนี้มาถึงแล้ว เพราะฉะนั้นธรรมจึงถูกกดขี่และบาดเจ็บ ก่อนที่อธรรมจะแผ่ขยายในโลกนี้ และก่อนที่ระเบียบธรรมอันเก่าแก่จะสูญสิ้นไปจากที่นี่ จงไปสู่สุรโลกเป็นเวลายาวนานเถิด’
