Pitṛ-śrāddha-haviḥ-phala-nirdeśa

Offerings for Ancestors and Their Stated Results

इत्युक्त्वा तं शमीगर्भे वह्लिमालक्ष्य देवता:,ऐसा कहकर शमीके गर्भमें अग्निदेवका दर्शन करके देवताओंने सभी कर्मोंके लिये शमीको ही अग्निका पवित्र स्थान नियत किया। तबसे अग्निदेव शमीके भीतर दृष्टिगोचर होने लगे

ity uktvā taṃ śamīgarbhe vahnīm ālakṣya devatāḥ | sarvakarmabhyaḥ śamīm eva agneḥ pavitra-sthānaṃ niyatya | tataḥ prabhṛti agnidevaḥ śamyāḥ antar dṛśyate sma ||

ภีษมะกล่าวว่า “ครั้นกล่าวดังนั้นแล้ว เหล่าเทพได้เห็นอัคนีอยู่ในครรภ์แห่งต้นศมี จึงบัญญัติให้ต้นศมีนั้นเองเป็นที่สถิตอันบริสุทธิ์และเป็นที่รับรองของอัคนีสำหรับพิธีกรรมทั้งปวง นับแต่นั้นอัคนีก็ปรากฏให้เห็นภายในต้นศมี”
