नामृतेनामृतं पीतं वत्सपीता न वत्सला | इमॉल्लोकान्‌ भरिष्यन्ति हविषा प्रस्नरवेण च

Transliteration

nāmṛtenāmṛtaṃ pītaṃ vatsapītā na vatsalā | imāṁl lokān bhariṣyanti haviṣā prasnaraveṇa ca ||

Translation

ภีษมะกล่าวว่า “หากปราศจาก ‘อมฤต’ อันแท้จริงคือความประพฤติชอบ สิ่งที่ดื่มก็หาใช่อมฤตไม่; และโคที่ยอมให้ลูกโคดูดน้ำนม ก็ยังมิอาจเรียกว่าเมตตาต่อลูกอย่างแท้จริงได้. โลกทั้งหลายดำรงอยู่ได้ด้วยเครื่องบูชายัญ (หวิส) และด้วย ‘ปรัศนรวะ’ คือถ้อยคำศักดิ์สิทธิ์/เสียงขานพิธีที่เปล่งอย่างถูกต้องตามครรลอง.”
