अस्मिन्नहं टद्रुमे जात: साधुभिश्न गुणैर्युत: । बालभावेन संगुप्त: शत्रुभिश्षल न धर्षित:,“मैंने इसी वृक्षपर जन्म लिया और यहीं रहकर अच्छे-अच्छे गुण सीखे हैं। इस वृक्षने अपने बालककी भाँति मुझे सुरक्षित रखा और मेरे ऊपर शत्रुओंका आक्रमण नहीं होने दिया।”
asminn ahaṃ tad-drume jātaḥ sādhubhiś ca guṇair yutaḥ | bāla-bhāvena saṃguptaḥ śatrubhiś ca na dharṣitaḥ ||
ภีษมะกล่าวว่า “บนต้นไม้นี้เองเราถือกำเนิด และที่นี่เองเราเติบโตพร้อมคุณธรรมที่สัตบุรุษสรรเสริญ ดุจเด็กที่ผู้ปกครองคุ้มครอง เราถูกพิทักษ์ไว้ ศัตรูทั้งหลายไม่อาจครอบงำหรือย่ำยีเราได้”
