Adhyāya 39 — Yudhiṣṭhira’s inquiry on attachment (saṅga) and relational restraint

श्रुत्वा च नावजानामि नापराध्यामि कर्हिचित्‌ । अभ्यर्च्यभ्यनुपृच्छामि पादौ गृह्नामि धीमताम्‌,सुनकर उनके वचनोंकी अवहेलना नहीं करता। कभी उनका अपराध नहीं करता। उनकी पूजा करके कुशल पूछता हूँ और बुद्धिमान ब्राह्मणोंके पाँव पकड़ता हूँ

śrutvā ca nāvajānāmi nāparādhyāmi karhicit | abhyarcyābhyānupṛcchāmi pādau gṛhṇāmi dhīmatām ||

ครั้นได้ฟังแล้ว ข้าพเจ้าไม่ดูหมิ่นท่านทั้งหลาย และไม่เคยล่วงเกินท่านเลย เมื่อบูชานอบน้อมแล้ว ข้าพเจ้าถามไถ่ทุกข์สุข และกุมบาทของผู้มีปัญญา—โดยเฉพาะพราหมณ์ผู้รอบรู้—แสดงความเคารพและสำรวมเป็นข้อปฏิบัติ
