पात्रलक्षण-परिक्षा (Pātra-Lakṣaṇa Parīkṣā) — Criteria for a Worthy Recipient

नच प्रेत्य विनश्यन्ति गच्छन्ति च परां गतिम्‌ इसी प्रकार वे यजमान भी प्रसन्न होते हैं जिनकी दी हुई हवि ब्राह्मणोंके उपयोगमें आती है। वे मरनेके बाद नष्ट नहीं होते हैं, उत्तम गतिको प्राप्त हो जाते हैं

na ca pretya vinaśyanti gacchanti ca parāṃ gatim

ภีษมะกล่าวว่า ผู้เป็นยชามานะซึ่งหวิษยะที่ตนถวายได้เป็นประโยชน์แก่พราหมณ์ ย่อมมีความอิ่มเอมใจ เขาทั้งหลายเมื่อสิ้นชีวิตแล้วไม่พินาศ หากแต่บรรลุคติอันสูงสุด

In Bhīṣma’s instruction on dharma, he explains the benefit of correctly offered and rightly utilized sacrificial gifts: the patron (yajamāna) is pleased, and those connected with such offerings attain a superior spiritual outcome after death.
