On Those Worthy of Honor and Salutation

śakra uvāca — prāṇāṁs tyaktvā mataṅgo ’pi samprāptaḥ sthānam uttamam |

Educational Q&A

The verse highlights that steadfast spiritual striving and moral integrity, when acknowledged by divine authority (Indra), can culminate in attaining the highest realm; relinquishing attachment to life itself becomes the gateway to the supreme state.

Indra (Śakra) grants a boon and then disappears; thereafter Mataṅga gives up his life-breaths and attains the supreme abode, identified here as Brahmaloka.
