The verse teaches that contact of human remains (asthi) with the sacred waters of the Gaṅgā is believed to generate enduring posthumous merit, resulting in prolonged honor in heaven—highlighting the ethical-religious value placed on tīrtha (holy places) and proper end-of-life rites.
A Siddha (a perfected being) is speaking, describing the spiritual consequence of a person’s bones remaining in the Gaṅgā’s waters: the duration of that contact is poetically equated with thousands of years of exalted status in Svarga.
