तीर्थवंशोपदेशः

Tīrtha-vaṃśa Upadeśa: Instruction on the Fruits of Sacred Waters

निवेशनानां क्षेत्राणां वसतीनां च भारत । दातार: प्रार्थितानां च ते नरा: स्वर्गगामिन:,भरतनन्दन! जो याचकोंकी याचनाके अनुसार घर, खेत और गाँव प्रदान करते हैं, वे मनुष्य स्वर्गलोकमें जाते हैं

niveśanānāṃ kṣetrāṇāṃ vasatīnāṃ ca bhārata | dātāraḥ prārthitānāṃ ca te narāḥ svargagāminaḥ ||

โอ้ ภารตะ ผู้ใดเมื่อมีผู้มาขอแล้วให้เรือน นา และที่อยู่อาศัย/ถิ่นฐานตามที่ผู้ขอร้อง ผู้นั้นย่อมเป็นผู้ไปสวรรค์

Educational Q&A

The verse teaches that dharmic giving includes providing foundational resources for life—homes, land, and settlements—especially when granted in line with a genuine request; such responsive generosity is said to lead to heavenly merit.

In the Anuśāsana Parva, Bhīṣma instructs Yudhiṣṭhira on dharma, particularly the fruits of various forms of dāna (charitable gifts). Here he commends donors who fulfill petitioners’ requests for housing and land, declaring their reward as attainment of heaven.
