संधानस्य पर: कालस्तवेति च पुन: पुनः । न च मे तद् वचो मूढ: कृतवान् स सुमन्दधी: । घातयित्वेह पृथिवीं ततः स निधनं गत:
sandhānasya paraḥ kālas taveti ca punaḥ punaḥ | na ca me tad vaco mūḍhaḥ kṛtavān sa sumandadhīḥ | ghātayitveha pṛthivīṃ tataḥ sa nidhanaṃ gataḥ ||
ภีษมะกล่าวว่า “เรากล่าวแก่เขาซ้ำแล้วซ้ำเล่าว่า ‘บัดนี้เป็นกาลอันประเสริฐสำหรับเจ้าที่จะทำสันติ’ แต่ผู้นั้นผู้หลงผิดและปัญญาอ่อนยิ่ง มิได้ทำตามถ้อยคำของเรา ครั้นก่อให้เกิดการฆ่าฟันทั่วแผ่นดินแล้ว ในที่สุดเขาก็ไปสู่ความพินาศของตนเอง”
