Anuśāsana-parva 17
तेजसामपि यत् तेजस्तपसामपि यत् तपः । शान्तानामपि य: शान्तो द्युतीनामपि या झ्युति:
tejasām api yat tejas tapasām api yat tapaḥ | śāntānām api yaḥ śānto dyutīnām api yā dyutiḥ ||
วายุกล่าวว่า— “พระองค์ทรงเป็นความรุ่งเรืองยิ่งแม้ท่ามกลางผู้รุ่งเรือง เป็นตบะยิ่งแม้ท่ามกลางผู้บำเพ็ญตบะ; ทรงสงบยิ่งแม้ท่ามกลางผู้สงบ และทรงเป็นรัศมีแม้ท่ามกลางสิ่งที่ส่องประกาย—ทรงเป็นความยอดเยี่ยมสูงสุดในบรรดาความยอดเยี่ยมทั้งปวง. จากพระองค์โลกทั้งหลายบังเกิด และสู่พระองค์ก็กลับสลาย; พระองค์คืออาตมันของสรรพสัตว์. บัดนี้จงฟังจากเราเถิด โอ้ยอดแห่งบุรุษ: เราจักประกาศพระนามหนึ่งพันแปดของพระศิวะผู้มีรัศมีหาประมาณมิได้. เพียงได้สดับเท่านั้น ท่านจักบรรลุความสมปรารถนาทั้งสิ้น.”

The verse presents Śiva as the supreme essence within every excellence—brilliance among the brilliant, austerity among ascetics, peace among the peaceful—framing him as the inner Self of all beings and the cosmic source into whom all returns. It also teaches the devotional efficacy of hearing his sacred names.
