Shloka 6

यास्य घोरतमा मूर्तिर्जगत्‌ संहरते तथा । ईश्वरत्वान्महत्त्वाच्च महेश्वर इति स्मृत:,महादेवजीके आधे शरीरको अग्नि और आधेको सोम कहते हैं। उनकी शिवमूर्ति ब्रह्मचर्यका पालन करती है और जो अत्यन्त घोर मूर्ति है, वह जगत्‌का संहार करती है। उनमें महत्त्व और ईश्वरत्व होनेके कारण वे “महेश्वर” कहलाते हैं

yāsya ghoratamā mūrtir jagat saṃharate tathā | īśvaratvān mahattvācca maheśvara iti smṛtaḥ ||

วายุกล่าวว่า “ปางอันน่าสะพรึงที่สุดของพระองค์ยังให้เกิดการล่มสลายแห่งโลก. และเพราะทรงมีความเป็นเจ้าและความยิ่งใหญ่ จึงทรงเป็นที่ระลึกนามว่า ‘มหีศวร’ (มหาเจ้า).”
