Educational Q&A

The verse highlights dharmic communication: when a community seeks guidance or resolution, it sends a designated envoy who must deliver the message faithfully. Ethical speech here implies accuracy, restraint, and respect toward brāhmaṇas, whose counsel is sought within the traditional moral order.

After receiving certain news, the Kapas send their messenger Dhanī to a group of brāhmaṇas. Dhanī approaches them and relays the Kapas’ message, preparing the ground for the brāhmaṇas’ response or instruction.
