सुवर्णवर्णो निर्धूम: सड़तोर्ध्वशिख: कवि: । क्रुद्धेनाड़िरसा शप्तो गुणैरेतैर्विवर्जित:,अग्निका रंग पहले सोनेके समान था, उसमेंसे धुआँ नहीं निकलता था और उसकी लपट सदा ऊपर की ओर ही उठती थी, किंतु क्रोधमें भरे हुए अंगिरा ऋषिने उसे शाप दे दिया। इसलिये अब उसमें ये पूर्वोक्त गुण नहीं रह गये

อัคนีแต่เดิมมีสีดุจทอง ไร้ควัน และเปลวเพลิงพุ่งขึ้นสู่เบื้องบนเสมอ แต่เมื่ออังคิรสะผู้เดือดดาลได้สาปแช่ง เขาจึงถูกพรากจากคุณลักษณะเหล่านั้น
