उमोवाच इमे मनुष्या दृश्यन्ते ऊहापोहविशारदा: । ज्ञानविज्ञानसम्पन्ना: प्रज्ञावन्तो<र्थकोविदा:,पार्वतीजीने पूछा--भगवन्! इन मनुष्योंमेंसे कुछ तो ऊहापोहमें कुशल, ज्ञान- विज्ञानसे सम्पन्न, बुद्धिमान् और अर्थनिषुण देखे जाते हैं
umovāca ime manuṣyā dṛśyante ūhāpohaviśāradāḥ | jñānavijñānasampannāḥ prajñāvanto 'rthakovidāḥ ||
อุมา กล่าวว่า “ข้าแต่พระผู้เป็นเจ้า ในหมู่มนุษย์เหล่านี้ มีบางคนปรากฏว่าเชี่ยวชาญในการไตร่ตรองและโต้แย้ง มีทั้งความรู้และปัญญาที่นำไปใช้ได้ เป็นผู้มีปรีชา และชำนาญในกิจแห่งประโยชน์และเรื่องทางโลก”
