Educational Q&A

Heroism is presented as a sustained ethical discipline: consistently choosing the courageous path, maintaining firm posture and self-control, and remaining unwavering in resolve leads one to a ‘heroic destiny’ (vīra-gati), i.e., an exalted end befitting such conduct.

Maheśvara is speaking in an instructive mode, defining the marks of a ‘vīra’ (heroic person) and stating the फल (result): the one who lives continually in valor, disciplined bearing, and steadfastness attains vīra-gati.
