Āloka-dāna (Dīpa-dāna), Sumanas–Dhūpa–Dīpa Phala: Manu–Suvarṇa and Śukra–Bali Exempla

सुमनोभिर्यदिज्यन्ते दैवतानि प्रजेश्वर । किमेतत्‌ कथमुत्पन्नं फलं योगं च शंस मे,उस समय सुवर्णने स्वायम्भुव मनुसे कहा--'प्रजापते! मैं एक प्रश्न करता हूँ, आप समस्त प्राणियोंके हितके लिये मुझे उसका उत्तर दीजिये। फूलोंसे जो देवताओंकी पूजा की जाती है, यह क्या है? इसका प्रचलन कैसे हुआ है? इसका फल क्या है और इसका उपयोग क्या है? यह सब मुझे बताइये”

sumano-bhir yad ijyante daivatāni prajeśvara | kim etat katham utpannaṁ phalaṁ yogaṁ ca śaṁsa me ||

“ข้าแต่พระผู้เป็นใหญ่แห่งหมู่สัตว์! เมื่อบูชาเทพเจ้าด้วยดอกไม้หอม แท้จริงพิธีนี้มีสภาวะอย่างไร? เกิดขึ้นมาได้อย่างไร? ให้ผลอานิสงส์เช่นไร และควรนำไปใช้โดยชอบอย่างไร? ขอทรงโปรดตรัสให้แจ่มแจ้งแก่ข้าพเจ้า”
