एतदिच्छामि तत्त्वेन व्याख्यातुं वै पितामह । सूक्ष्मा गतिर्हिं धर्मस्य यत्र मुहान्ति मानवा:,युधिछिरने पूछा--पितामह! यदि कोई मित्रता या सौहार्दके सम्बन्धसे किसी नीच जातिके मनुष्यको उपदेश देता है तो उस राजर्षिको दोष लगेगा या नहीं? मैं इस बातको यथार्थरूपसे जानना चाहता हूँ। आप इसका विशदरूपसे विवेचन करें; क्योंकि धर्मकी गति सूक्ष्म है, जहाँ मनुष्य मोहमें पड़ जाते हैं

Yudhiṣṭhira uvāca: etad icchāmi tattvena vyākhyātuṃ vai pitāmaha | sūkṣmā gatir hi dharmasya yatra muhyanti mānavāḥ ||

ยุธิษฐิระกล่าวว่า “ท่านปิตามหะ ข้าปรารถนาให้ท่านอธิบายเรื่องนี้ตามความจริง เพราะวิถีแห่งธรรมะนั้นละเอียดลึกซึ้งยิ่งนัก จนมนุษย์ทั้งหลายมักหลงผิดได้”
