ययाति–देवयानी संवादः
Yayāti–Devayānī Dialogue and Śukra’s Consent
अब्राद्मणं कर्तुमिच्छन्ति रौद्रा- स््ते मां यथा व्यभिचरन्ति नित्यम् | अप्यस्य पापस्य भवेदिहान्तः कं ब्रह्महत्या न दहेदपीन्द्रमू,“ये भयंकर स्वभाववाले दैत्य मुझे ब्राह्मणत्वसे गिराना चाहते हैं। इसीलिये प्रतिदिन मेरे विरुद्ध आचरण कर रहे हैं। इस पापका परिणाम यहाँ अवश्य प्रकट होगा। ब्रह्महत्या किसे नहीं जला देगी, चाहे वह इन्द्र ही क्यों न हो?
abrāhmaṇaṁ kartum icchanti raudrās te māṁ yathā vyabhicaranti nityam | apy asya pāpasya bhaved ihāntaḥ kaṁ brahmahatyā na dahed apīndram ||
“อสูรผู้มีสันดานดุร้ายเหล่านั้นปรารถนาจะฉุดเราลงจากฐานะพราหมณ์; เพราะเหตุนั้นพวกเขาจึงประพฤติตนเป็นปฏิปักษ์ต่อเราอยู่ทุกวัน ผลสุดท้ายของบาปนี้จักปรากฏ ณ ที่นี่แน่นอน บาปแห่งการฆ่าพราหมณ์จะไม่เผาผลาญผู้ใดเล่า—แม้พระอินทร์ก็ยังมิอาจพ้น”
