ययाति–देवयानी संवादः

Yayāti–Devayānī Dialogue and Śukra’s Consent

ब्रह्मचर्य चरिष्यामि त्वय्यहं परमं गुरौ । अनुमन्यस्व मां ब्रह्मनू सहस्नं परिवत्सरान्‌,'ब्रह्मन! आप मेरे गुरु हैं। मैं आपके समीप रहकर एक हजार वर्षोतक उत्तम ब्रह्मचर्यका पालन करूँगा। इसके लिये आप मुझे अनुमति दें”

brahmacaryaṁ cariṣyāmi tvayy ahaṁ paramaṁ gurau | anuman yasva māṁ brahmanū sahasraṁ parivatsarān |

ข้าแต่พราหมณ์ ท่านคือครูสูงสุดของข้าพเจ้า ข้าพเจ้าจักพำนักใกล้ท่านและประพฤติพรหมจรรย์อันประเสริฐตลอดหนึ่งพันปี ขอท่านโปรดอนุญาตแก่ปณิธานนี้
