वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse underscores the Mahābhārata’s emphasis on lineage and inherited qualities: identities and capacities (such as vīrya and bala) are presented through genealogical connections, framing later events within a moral-narrative order of descent and responsibility.
Vaiśampāyana is listing figures within a genealogical or mythic catalogue, identifying parentage and marital ties—Śukī as Analā’s daughter, Kaḍaka as Surasā’s son, and Śyenī as Aruṇa’s wife—highlighting their notable strength and prowess.
