संशयो वह्लिरागच्छेद् दृष्टं वायोर्निवर्तनम् । मृत्यु्नों बिलवासिभ्यो बिले स्याजन्नात्र संशय:,आग यहाँतक आयेगी, इसमें संदेह है; क्योंकि वायुके वेगसे अग्निका दूसरी ओर पलट जाना भी देखा गया है। परंतु बिलमें तो उसके भीतर रहनेवाले जीवोंसे हमारी मृत्यु होनेमें कोई संशय ही नहीं है
saṁśayo vahnir āgacched dṛṣṭaṁ vāyor nivartanam | mṛtyur no bilavāsibhyo bile syāj nâtra saṁśayaḥ ||
ไฟอาจลามมาถึงที่นี่ก็เป็นได้—ยังมีที่ให้สงสัย เพราะเคยเห็นว่าเมื่อแรงลมกล้า เปลวไฟก็อาจถูกพัดย้อนกลับไปอีกทางหนึ่ง แต่หากเข้าไปในโพรงแล้ว ย่อมไม่ต้องสงสัยเลยว่า ความตายจักมาถึงเราแน่ ด้วยน้ำมือสัตว์ที่อาศัยอยู่ภายในนั้น
