Garuḍa Learns the Cause of Vinatā’s Bondage and the Nāgas Demand Amṛta (Ādi Parva, Adhyāya 23)
ते दूसदभ्युपेत्यैनं देवा: सर्षिगणास्तदा । इनसे किसी प्रकारका भय नहीं करना चाहिये। तुम मेरे साथ चलकर इनका दर्शन करो। अग्निदेवके ऐसा कहनेपर उस समय देवताओं तथा ऋषियोंने गरुडके पास जाकर अपनी वाणीद्वारा उनका इस प्रकार स्तवन किया (यहाँ परमात्माके रूपमें गरुडकी स्तुति की गयी है)
te dūsadabhyupetyainaṃ devāḥ sarṣigaṇās tadā | inase kisī prakārakā bhaya nahīṃ karanā cāhiye | tuma mere sātha calakara inakā darśana karo | agnidevake aisā kahanepare usa samaya devatāoṃ tathā ṛṣiyonne garuḍake pāsa jākar apanī vāṇīdvarā unakā isa prakāra stavana kiyā (yahāṃ paramātmake rūpameṃ garuḍakī stuti kī gayī hai)
แล้วเหล่าเทพพร้อมหมู่ฤๅษีจึงเข้าไปหาเขา “อย่าหวาดกลัวพวกเขาเลยไม่ว่าประการใด จงมากับเราเพื่อได้เห็นเขา” เมื่ออัคนีกล่าวดังนั้น เหล่าเทพและฤๅษีจึงไปยังครุฑและสรรเสริญด้วยวาจา—ณ ที่นี้ครุฑถูกยกย่องว่าเป็นภาวะแสดงออกของปรมาตมัน
