Educational Q&A

The verse is primarily descriptive, but it implicitly reflects how prosperity and status are displayed in public festivities—through renowned companions, music, and retinues—inviting reflection on the allure of pleasure and prestige within worldly life.

Vaiśampāyana lists prominent Yādava figures—Satyaka, Sātyaki, Bhaṅkāra, Mahārava, Hārdikya (Kṛtavarmā), and Uddhava—along with unnamed others, describing how they add to the magnificence of a festival held on Mount Raivataka, amid women and Gandharvas.
