तौ तु दीर्घेण कालेन तपोयुक्ता बभूवतु: । क्षुत्पिपासापरिश्रान्तौ जटावल्कलधारिणौ,भूख और प्यासका कष्ट सहते हुए सिरपर जटा तथा शरीरपर वल्कल धारण किये वे दोनों भाई दीर्घकालतक भारी तपस्यामें लगे रहे

tau tu dīrgheṇa kālena tapoyuktā babhūvatuḥ | kṣutpipāsāpariśrāntau jaṭāvalkaladhāriṇau ||

Translation

กาลล่วงนานไป สองพี่น้องนั้นยิ่งแนบแน่นอยู่ในตบะ อดทนต่อความหิวและกระหาย อ่อนล้าจากความขัดสน มีชฎาบนเศียรและนุ่งห่มเปลือกไม้ ดำรงตนมั่นคงในเพียรอันเข้มกล้า
