Educational Q&A

The verse primarily conveys social-ethical norms of kṣatriya courts: lavish gifting and provision of comforts (beds, seats, vehicles, vessels) functions as a public affirmation of honor, alliance, and prosperity. Ethically, it reflects the duty of hosts and allies to support newly formed households and relationships through generosity.

In the aftermath of a marriage context in the surrounding passage, the narration lists valuable items—beds, seats, large conveyances, and hundreds of gem-inlaid vessels—sent as gifts. The verse is part of an inventory-style description emphasizing the scale and splendor of the offerings.
