ऑपनआक्रात बछ। अ-काज जा अष्टस प्तरत्याधेकशततमो< ध्याय: पितरोंद्वारा और्वके क्रोधका निवारण ब्राह्मण्युवाच नाहं गृह्नामि वस्ताता दृष्टी्नास्मि रुषान्विता । अयं तु भार्गवो नूनमूरुज: कुपितो5चद्य व:,ब्राह्मणीने कहा--पुत्रो! मैंने तुम्हारी दृष्टि नहीं ली है; मुझे तुमपर क्रोध भी नहीं है। परंतु मेरी जाँघसे पैदा हुआ यह भृगुवंशी बालक निश्चय ही तुम्हारे ऊपर आज कुपित हुआ है

brāhmaṇy uvāca—nāhaṁ gṛhṇāmi vastāta dṛṣṭiṁ nāsmi ruṣānvitā | ayaṁ tu bhārgavo nūnam ūrūjaḥ kupito ’dya vaḥ ||

พราหมณีหญิงกล่าวว่า “ลูกเอ๋ย แม่มิได้ชิงเอาสายตาของเจ้าไป และแม่ก็มิได้โกรธเจ้าเลย แต่กุมารภารควะผู้นี้—ผู้ถือกำเนิดจากต้นขาของแม่—วันนี้แน่แท้ได้พิโรธต่อพวกเจ้าแล้ว”
