As a chapter-colophon, the verse primarily signals completion, but it frames the episode’s ethical thrust: a kṣatriya-like duty to protect vulnerable people by confronting predatory, adharma-driven violence. The conclusion underscores that force, when directed to end oppression and restore safety, can function as a dharmic remedy.
This is the formal closing statement for the chapter describing the combat between Bakāyura (Baka) and Bhīma within the Bakavadha episode of the Ādi Parva. It announces that the chapter dealing with their battle has ended.
