This line is a colophon rather than a didactic verse: it signals the formal close of a chapter and situates it within the Mahābhārata’s internal structure (parva, sub-parvan, and named sub-episode). Its value is primarily textual—helping readers track narrative units and transmission.
The narrative unit being closed belongs to the Jatugṛha (lac-house) episode in the Ādi Parva, specifically a sub-episode titled Gaḍjottaraṇa. The line functions as an editorial/recitational marker indicating that the 148th chapter has concluded.
