तस्य ज्यातलनिर्घोषं द्रोण: शुश्राव भारत । उपेत्य चैनमुत्थाय परिष्वज्येदमब्रवीत्,भारत! उनके धनुषकी प्रत्यंचाका टंकार द्रोणने सोते समय सुना। तब वे उठकर उनके पास गये और उन्हें हृदयसे लगाकर बोले
tasya jyātalanirghoṣaṃ droṇaḥ śuśrāva bhārata | upetya cainam utthāya pariṣvajyedam abravīt ||
โอ ภารตะ! โทรณะได้ยินเสียงกังวานแห่งสายธนูของเขา แม้ขณะกำลังหลับอยู่ ครั้นแล้วก็ลุกขึ้นไปหา โอบกอดเขาด้วยความเอ็นดู แล้วกล่าวถ้อยคำดังนี้
