Janamejaya uvāca | Kṛpasyāpi mama brahman sambhavaṁ vaktum arhasi | śarastambāt kathaṁ jajñe kathaṁ vā astrāṇy avāptavān ||
ชนเมชัยตรัสว่า “ข้าแต่พราหมณ์ โปรดเล่ากำเนิดของกฤปะให้ข้าพเจ้าฟังด้วย เขาเกิดจากกออ้อ (ศรสตัมภะ) ได้อย่างไร และได้มาซึ่งความรู้และความชำนาญในศัสตราและอัสตราได้อย่างไร?”
