नृसिंहं नरयुक्तेन परमालंकृतेन तम्‌ । अवहन्‌ यानमुख्येन सह माद्र्या सुसंयतम्‌,उसमें माद्रीके साथ पाण्डुकी अस्थियाँ भली-भाँति बाँधकर रखी गयी थीं। मनुष्योंद्वारा ढोई जानेवाली और अच्छी तरह सजायी हुई उस शिबिकाके द्वारा वे सभी बन्धु-बान्धव माद्रीसहित नरश्रेष्ठ पाण्डुकी अस्थियोंको ढोने लगे

vaiśampāyana uvāca |

nṛsiṃhaṃ narayuktena paramālaṅkṛtena tam |

avahan yānamukhyena saha mādryā susaṃyatam ||

เขาทั้งหลายอัญเชิญ “สิงห์ท่ามกลางมนุษย์” คือพระปาณฑุ พร้อมด้วยพระมาทรี โดยผูกยึดอัฐิไว้ให้มั่นคง แล้วเคลื่อนด้วยยานชั้นเอกอันประดับงามซึ่งคนแบกหาม เหล่าญาติทั้งปวงจึงร่วมกันหามอัฐิของพระปาณฑุผู้ประเสริฐไปพร้อมพระมาทรี ตามครรลองพิธีอันควร
