वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse highlights dharma in a social-ethical sense: when a grave situation arises, even those bound by seclusion and protocol (the royal women of the antaḥpura) step forward. Responsibility to family and kingdom can override ordinary boundaries, showing that duty and compassion are not confined by rank or gendered spaces.
Vaiśampāyana narrates that Satyavatī and Kausalyā, along with Gāndhārī attended by the royal women, come out from the inner quarters and proceed to the place where the main event is unfolding, indicating heightened concern and the public significance of the moment.
