वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse primarily serves a preservational purpose: by carefully listing names, the text models the cultural value of स्मरण (remembrance) and the transmission of lineage and reputation. Ethically, it reflects the Mahābhārata’s concern that identity and merit are sustained through truthful narration and faithful record.
Vaiśampāyana continues a catalog-style narration, enumerating a set of notable female figures (some known as apsarases) characterized by auspiciousness and beauty, as part of a broader genealogical or descriptive passage in Ādi Parva.
