ततस्तामागतो वायुर्मगारूढो महाबल: । किं ते कुन्ति ददाम्यद्य ब्रूहि यत्‌ ते हदि स्थितम्‌,तब महाबली वायु मृगपर आरूढ़ हो कुन्तीके पास आये और यों बोले--“कुन्ती! तुम्हारे मनमें जो अभिलाषा हो, वह कहो। मैं तुम्हें क्या दूँ?”

tatas tām āgato vāyur mṛgārūḍho mahābalaḥ | kiṃ te kunti dadāmy adya brūhi yat te hṛdi sthitam ||

แล้วพระวายุผู้ทรงมหาพละ เสด็จมาหานางโดยทรงกวางเป็นพาหนะ และตรัสว่า “กุนตี ความปรารถนาใดสถิตอยู่ในดวงใจของเจ้า จงบอกมา วันนี้เราจะประทานสิ่งใดแก่เจ้า?”
