ब्रह्म पर्यचरत्‌ क्षत्रं विश: क्षत्रमनुव्रता: । ब्र्मक्षत्रानुरक्ताश्न शूद्रा: पर्यचरन्‌ विश:,क्षत्रियलोग ब्राह्मणोंकी सेवा करते, वैश्य ब्राह्मण और क्षत्रियोंमें अनुरक्त रहते तथा शूद्र ब्राह्मण और क्षत्रियोंमें अनुराग रखते हुए वैश्योंकी सेवामें तत्पर रहते थे

vaiśampāyana uvāca | brahma paryacarat kṣatraṃ viśaḥ kṣatram anuvratāḥ | brahma-kṣatrānuraktāś ca śūdrāḥ paryacaran viśaḥ ||

ในยุคอันเป็นระเบียบเรียบร้อยนั้น กษัตริย์นักรบ (กษัตริยะ) ปรนนิบัติพราหมณ์; พ่อค้าและชาวนา (ไวศยะ) ยึดมั่นติดตามกษัตริยะในหน้าที่; และศูทรผู้ภักดีต่อพราหมณ์และกษัตริยะก็ขยันขันแข็งในการรับใช้ไวศยะ ดังนี้แต่ละวรรณะดำรงอยู่ในธรรมที่กำหนดแก่ตน เกื้อกูลกันให้เกิดความกลมกลืน
